Teacher Proficiency Requirements

The Godley Independent School District with the approval of the Board of Trustees has established expectations for teachers and the use of technology in the education process. The district expects teachers to utilize technology as a teaching and learning resource in the classroom. To ensure teachers have the capability to achieve this goal, the district requires all teachers to demonstrate basic computer skills and understanding as set forth by the SBEC technology standards for educators. These skills are demonstrated by completion of the District's Level 1 Certification. The Level 1 Certification is comprised of the following eight modules:

Module 1 Basic Computer Skills
Module 2 Network and Troubleshooting
Module 3 Word Processing
Module 4 Integrating Internet Resources
Module 5 Multimedia Integration
Module 6 Desktop Publishing, Digital Cameras and Scanners
Module 7 Access Database
Module 8 Excel Spreadsheet
Module 9 Web Site Creation

Demonstration of competency is attained by completion of evaluation documents prepared by the district for Modules 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Module 9 requires creation and maintenance of a teacher website. Modules 2 and 4 require workshop attendance and Module 1 is a self-evaluation. Training workshops are provided during inservice at the beginning of school and during the school year for teachers needing instruction for specific modules. Online tutorials are available through the links on the left for teachers that prefer that method of learning or that can not attend a workshop.  Other tutorials can be found by searching the Internet.
