Pitch is the highness or lowness of a note. In each class we talk about what makes high sounds (smaller instruments and things) and what makes low sounds (big instruments and things.) I use the example of a bird and an elephant. The bird tweets and the elephant stomps when it walks. When we study the instrument families we will talk about this more.
We also have looked at the staff, (the five lines that music is written on) and talked about the music alphabet, (ABCDEFG, there is no H in "music".) When a note is written on the staff at the top it is high and when it is written at the bottom it is low.
