Steady beat is fundamental to most music. It's what makes you tap your foot to a song. The students also learn about the steady beat that is not in music, such as the heart and the tick tock of a clock.
Above is a picture of a metronome. I showed the students a metronome and we listened to the different Tempos that is has. A metronome helps musicians keep the beat.
Students should find steady beat with their parents in everyday sounds and music outside of school.
