Procedures
Entering the Classroom: When you enter the classroom, you are to take your seat immediately. Get out your homework if you had any the night before. Get out your journal and begin answering the Journal Prompt. When finished with your Journal Prompt, start on your Daily Oral Language (DOL) Builder. You may not talk during this time.
If absent, copy down what was missed off the calendar first.
Tardiness: If you are tardy, you must go to the front office and get a tardy slip. If you miss your Journal or DOL, it is your responsibility to make it up. You may come during the Activity Period or get it from a friend. I will check Journals and DOLs at the end of the week.
Class Dismissal: The bell does not dismiss you from my class. I dismiss you. The bell simply notifies me to let you go. You may not be out of your seat.
Heading on Your Assignments: You must put your name, subject, period and date on the top right hand corner of your paper and in this order.
Name
Subject Period
Date
All assignments must have a title.
**If your heading is not done this way, you will receive points off. If a heading is not on your assignment at all, you will receive a 50 for the grade.
Turning in work: Put work in the appropriate black tray when told to turn work in.
Fire Drills: Everyone will get up and line up in single file. Stay in a single file line until we return to the room. Please do not talk while walking out to our designated area. Loud voices and disruptions can cause unneeded and unwanted chaos. You will treat these drills as a real experience. The last person to leave the room is responsible for turning off the lights.
Phone Calls to Class/Administrators Entering Classroom: When the phone rings or administrators, faculty or staff come to the classroom, you are not to break focus from your assignment and begin talking to one another. Don’t address administrators, faculty or staff when they walk into class I need for the room to be quiet because there might be specific information I am receiving.
Announcements: When announcements are in progress, you are to remain silent. This reason is set so that I and you can hear the important needed information.
Walking to/from Assemblies: The entire class needs to walk as a group in an orderly fashion to and from the assembly. You need to remain quiet, so you do not disturb other classes in session.
Taking Tests/Quizzes: Do not talk while tests/quizzes are still being taken. Once finished with your test/quiz, turn it into the appropriate tray and have something to work on.
