Geometry Syllabus

Supplies*:

2” 3 Ring Binder

Loose-Leaf Paper

5 Dividers (for Binder)

*Parents: All other supplies are provided in a classroom set. Please contact me if child(ren) wish to have their own individual set of supplies, and I will provide you with that list.

Textbook:                The Geometry Curriculum comes from Texas A&M Consolidated, which is worksheet based. A classroom set of textbooks will be provided to supplement this curriculum.

Calculator:             A calculator will be available during class only. No calculator will leave the classroom. We will only be using calculators on a periodic basis; therefore the purchase of a calculator will not be required.

Assignments:         Each assignment must be written in pencil on loose-leaf paper, on graph paper or on the paper provided to you with the assignment. Your name and period should appear on the assignment. There is a 10-point penalty for failing to comply with any of these requirements. Keep all completed assignments in your notebook.

Late Work:             Late assignments are discouraged. You will be penalized 10 points per day for late assignments. Assignments more than 3 days late will receive a grade of zero except under exceptional circumstances with arrangements made before the assignment is late.

Absences:               Absences are discouraged. If you are absent because of a school related activity, you are expected to pick up and complete your assignments or make up any missed quiz or test before returning to class. For other absences you have one week from the date of your absence to turn in your missing work or make up any missed quiz or test. As stated in the handbook if your absence is unexcused you face a 20-point penalty on all make-up work.

Assignments:         You will have an assignment after each lesson. You will use your class notes and tutorials for assistance with assignments. You are expected to complete assignments to the best of your ability before the next class meeting.

Quizzes:                  Quizzes: At least three quizzes will be given each six weeks. Grades on quizzes are based on the percentage of correct problems.

Notebook Quizzes: At the end of each grading period you will be given a notebook quiz where you will provide correct answers to homework problems and information for this syllabus. After graded assignments are returned, you are responsible for making corrections. Keep all corrected assignments in your notebook along with this syllabus throughout the school year.

Tests:                         At least two Tests will be given each six weeks. Grades on tests are based on the                                                             percentage of correct problems.
