ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON DUE DATE.

DOCUMENT your sources on each assignment.  (5 points will be deducted for no documentation.)

If you use CD-ROM, give name & year.  If you use Internet, give URL.

Use any source except your text.  All assignments must be legible & in your handwriting or typed.  NO computer printouts.  One page means a FULL page.  Write your name on each assignment.

Turn in a total of 5 assignments for the six weeks.  Each assignment is worth 20 points.  These assignments count 25% of your six weeks grade.  No late work will be accepted.

When writing a report, read & summarize the article.  Do NOT copy directly from the source.  This act is plagiarism.  No two assignments should be exactly the same.  Cheating will not be tolerated.

Please proofread your work.  Points will be deducted for spelling, punctuation, & sentence structure errors.

YOU MAY DO ONE ASSIGNMENT FROM EACH CATEGORY (1-8).

• 1.  Write a 1 to 2 page report on one of the following countries:  Document source.

                Saudi Arabia     Iraq     Iran     Egypt     Afghanistan     L:ibya

                 Turkey     South Africa     Kenya     Tanzania     Nigeria

               Ethiopia     Zaire     Congo     Somalia     Mozambique

• 2.  Create a 20 slide PowerPoint (with text) on any country listed in #1.  Print a copy of presentation & tell me where it is stored.  Document source

• 3.  On posterboard, hand draw the flags of any 7 countries listed in #1.
•      Color the flags in correct colors.  Document source.

• 4.  On posterboard, hand draw a map of any country listed in #1.
•       On the map, label mountains, rivers, & major cities including the capital.
•      Color the map.   Document source.  

• 5.  Create a collage reflecting the unique character of any country listed in #1.

• 6.  Write a 1 page summary of your 2007/2008 school year.  What were your likes/dislikes?  Discuss things you would like to see changed & offer suggestions.  Be sure to include advice to incoming freshman.

• 7.  Write a 1 to 2 page report on one of these topics:

                 Mount Kilimanjaro     Great Rift Valley     Pyramids of Egypt

          Kibbutz in Israel

• 8.  Read any full length article from National Geographic.

                Write a 1 page summary.  Document source.
