Honors English I

RULES AND PROCEDURES

Dear Student and Parent,

     Welcome to Honors English I.  My name is Ms. Rodgers and this is my third at Godley High School.  I am originally from Frost, TX and earned my degree from Tarleton State University.  I am extremely excited to be here and expect the best from all my students.  With that being said I expect all of my students to follow the rules, turn in all assignments and come to my class ready to learn.  I look forward to a great year!

Supplies

  1. College-ruled paper
  2. 2 One Subject Spiral notebooks
  3. Blue or black ink pens and pencils
  4. 3 ring binder to keep notes in
  5. 2 BLUE folders with brads
  6. Map pencils/crayons/markers
  7. 1 package of construction paper

 

Grades and Grading Procedures

40% of grade: minor grades (daily assignments, quizzes, homework, participation, etc)

60% of grade: major grades (tests, major projects, major writing assignments, etc)

 

Makeup Work

-Students have 2 DAYS PER MISSED to make up DAILY ASSIGNMENTS and HOMEWORK.

-It is the student’s responsibility to ask for missed assignments. Assignments will be posted on    my website and in the absent notebook in class.

 -MAJOR must be made up within 5 DAYS of the students return to school. 

- Outside assignments and projects assigned a week or more in advance will still be due on the assigned due date, regardless of absences.

-LATE WORK will NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Classroom Procedures

-Be in your seat when the bell rings

-Check the board and start your in class assignment

-Remain in your seat until you are dismissed.  I dismiss you, not the bell.

-Turn in assignments at the beginning of class in the appropriate box (HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS TURNED IN AFTER CLASS HAS STARTED WILL BE CONSIDERED LATE AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED)

 

NOTE:  It is a privilege to be in an Honors Class, therefore, as Honors’ Students you will be held to a higher standard.  If at anytime you demonstrate that you cannot handle this class, for example turning assignments in late, not turning assignments in at all, being excessively tardy or exhibiting behavioral problems you may be removed from this class. This class will also include extensive outside reading, projects and writing assignments. It is your responsibility to keep up with the coursework.  Plagiarism will not be accepted and will result in immediate dismissal from Honors English I.
