Rules in the Family and Consumer Sciences Classroom
Students must follow all school and district rules for behavior as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
Students must follow all oral and written directions.
Students must stay in their assigned seats or tables unless they have permission to leave their assigned area.
Students must have a pen, a pencil and notebook paper available every day.
Students must follow all safety and sanitation rules.
Students will clean up all areas and equipment used and put everything back in its proper place before leaving the room. Students who do not clean up will have points deducted from their grade and will be expected to clean up after school, before school, or during lunch.
No gum, candy, drinks or food from outside the room are allowed in the room. Food and drinks prepared in class must remain in the designated preparation and eating areas.
Hair combing, applying makeup, and other grooming activities will not be allowed during class or in the Foods Lab. Combs, brushes, makeup, etc., that are out in the FCS classroom or Foods Lab will be taken up. First offense will result in the item being held until the end of the school day. Subsequent offense will result in the item being thrown away immediately. Absolutely no nail polish or remover will ever be allowed in the classroom. It will be thrown away immediately.
Students must respect the teacher, other students, and school property.
No interrupting others, name calling, bullying, making fun of others, or any other disrespectful behavior will be tolerated.
Items broken or damaged deliberately, or because instructions were not followed, must be replaced by the student and/or parent. Students may not work on equipment until the items are paid for or replaced. Work from a textbook will be assigned until that time.
Students will never prevent the teacher from teaching or other students from learning.
Students must not talk while the teacher is teaching or giving instructions, when students are asking or answering questions, or when announcements are being made. With teacher permission students may talk quietly when working on class or group projects.
No yelling, loud talking or disruptive noises will be allowed.
Failure to follow the classroom rules and/or Student Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action. First offense may result in a warning. Students may be removed from the classroom immediately if they are disruptive in any way. Students with repeated misbehavior or serious misbehavior will be referred to the principal.
