As a School Counselor, my certification allows me to counsel children with a general goal to help them cope with their situation as it pertains to school. My goal is to help children focus on the positive influence school can have on their lives.

         I try to help a child that has been sent to me to get back to class as quickly as possible. Hopefully, the child will use the tools we discussed to help deal with whatever problem they are having. I will listen to each child and try to hear a problem from the child’s viewpoint. I do not tell a child how to “fix” a problem or how to behave for a teacher. I try to lead the child to find a solution on his or her own while claiming responsibility for his or her actions.

Some of my responsibilities include:

Intermediate Campus Test Coordinator

Group Counseling with every grade

Individual counseling during grade level PE/Music/Library time

Crisis counseling as needed

Fill in for the Principal when she is out of the building

Administrator at ARD meetings when needed

Help with submitting PEIMS information

504 Coordinator

Dyslexia Screener

GT Testing

Student Awareness/Response To Intervention Co-ordinator
