My name is Taylor Cathey and I am the Middle School Assistant Band Director and responsible for all district percussion activities.  I graduated from Plano East Senior High School before attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where I received a Bachelors degree in Music Education.

At ULM, I performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Sound of Today Marching Band, Drumline, Percussion Ensemble, Pan-Da-Monium Steel Band, African Ensemble, Stomp Ensemble, Orchestra, and Choir. While I was in Monroe, I also performed with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra and the Twin Cities Community Band.

This is my second job out of college.  My last position was similar to what I am doing now with Burkburnett ISD, just north of Wichita Falls, TX. At Burkburnett, I helped the band earn a Sweepstakes award and make the finals of the Golden Triangle Marching Festival.  I also directed the 7th grade band to a second division rating on stage and a first division rating in sight reading at the spring contest.

While attending ULM, I was on staff for the Ouachita Parish High School Band. During my two years there, the band earned ones at marching.  In 2004, they were named Grand Champions of the Parkway Marching Invitational in Shreveport, LA.  They also won best drumline.

I met my wife Amanda during my third month of college.  She is a nurse at Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital in Fort Worth. We are expecting our first child, Jacob Andrew, in July of this year.
