Great Scores!

Recently the Godley High School WildCat Band earned "straight ones" at the Region 7 Concert and Sightreading Contest.  "Straight Ones" is the highest score possible at a Concert and Sightreading Contest.  The term represents a first division (superior) rating from all three judges for the concert portion and all three judges from the sightreading portion.

The Middle School Bands also attended their Concert and Sightreading Contest recently.  The Gold Band (Varsity) received Straight Ones on Stage and a 2 in sightreading.  The Purple Band (Non-Varsity) received a 2 on stage and a 3 in sightreading.

Congratulations to all of these students!

In addition to these successes, the GHS WildCat Band has earned many accomplishments this year.  In October, the Marching band earned a rating of Excellent, receiving scores of 2-1-2 at the Region 7 Marching Festival.  Twelve members of the Band made the All-District Honor Band, and six students made the Region 7 All-Region Band. One student, Stephen Jusko, made the All-State Symphonic Band (the top band) on tuba, and also earned first chair in the All-Region Symphonic Band.

Further, the Middle School Band had six 7th and 8th graders make the All-District Middle School band.

Congratulations to these students.

The Godley WildCat Band Program is a growing one.  Currently, we have 62 members in the High School Band and over 200 in the Middle School, including a new program which puts every 6th grader in band.  Furthermore, from 2006-2007, the total band program lost a total of 4 members.

Ensembles at the Middle School include the Gold Band and the Purple Band (two mixed grade ensembles), a jazz band, and percussion ensembles.

The High School also has a number of ensembles.  The WildCat Concert band is the premier performing group of Godley High School.  Other groups include a percussion ensemble, and the Roar on the Floor Basketball Band, as well as the WildCat Marching Band.
