What to expect...

Hello and welcome to Middle School!

This year I hope to make science an enjoyable subject for you. I want you to be able to leave 6th grade knowing tons more than you came with, and have fun along the way.

During the first six weeks, I hope to review what you learned last year, discuss the scientific method, know terms, and hopefully get started on a few labs.

The second six weeks will consist of learning Newton’s Laws of Motion, the different types of energy, and more fun labs. We will also begin talking about one of my favorite science units: rocks and minerals.

The third six weeks we will continue our discussions on rocks and minerals, volcanoes, mountains, and other earth sciences.

The fourth six weeks will be a busy one.  We will begin lessons on caves, groundwater, some space and planet discussions, and weather.

Life sciences will make-up the majority of our fifth six weeks. This has to do what things are made of like cells and their parts. We will try and do labs with the microscopes to see what makes up our bodies!

Our last six weeks we will continue learning life sciences. We will discuss lots of things like, behavior patterns in animals and the food chain, just to name a few.

This is just an idea of what to expect this year in our science class.  We may not stick to this schedule exactly, but hopefully you know what’s coming! Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and if you try your hardest you will do fine in my class!!
