School Health Advisory Council
In accordance with Senate Bill 19, the SHAC has been established to provide support and give advice about student health issues. It consists of a group of parents, educators, nurses, food nutrition director, and community leaders. It helps promote healthy behaviors and a healthy environment.
Mission/Purpose Statement: All students, grades PK through 12, will receive appropriate health instruction that reflects current health issues facing their specific grade levels.
Long Term Goal: To provide students with the knowledge and skills that enables them to adopt and maintain healthy attitudes and behaviors throughout their lives.
Short Term Goal: To implement a coordinated health education program designed to prevent obesity, cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes, with human sexuality instruction with the primary focus on abstinence.

The SHAC and Wellness Committee meet at least 2-3 times a year. Council members will have a minimum 2-year committment. Officers will have a 1-year committment.
