Rules and Procedures
Mrs. Simons-History (Room 104)
I believe that every students can and will learn in my classroom.
I expect every student to do his or her best every day.
Classroom Rules
- Follow the rules and procedures everyday
- Talk only when given permission by teacher.
- Bring all supplies to class: spiral, book, binder, pen and map colors.
- Be aware of electronic equipment in the classroom. (Do not touch!)
- Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. (Do not roam the classroom.)
- Keep hands, feet, and object to yourself. (Do not "bug" other students.)
- Be involved and participate in the daily discussion.
- Keep inappropriate words and pictures off your binder, spiral and book.
- Use blue or black pen only for your graded work. You may use pencil if sharpened prior to class.
Classroom Procedures
Starting of Class
- Be soft spoken when entering the classroom.
- Check for your supplies before entering the classroom.
- Check for handouts by door.
- Place handout in binder and write your name at the top.
- Find assigned seat, and do not roam around the classroom.
- Read what is on the board or screen.
- Begin working on the bell work immediately.
Bell Work
- Read bell work and carefully follow directions.
- Answer the bell work in your spiral. Include the following things: date, page number and title.
- Use your book if you need help. (Do not ask for help until instruction time.)
- When finished, be ready for next part of class and sit quietly.
Instruction Time
- Have book, binder spiral, and pen ready for instructions.
- Focus on the lesson and participate in the discussion.
- Listen carefully.
- Stop and think!
- Make an honest effort to understand before asking questions.
- Ask appropriate questions at the appropriate time.
Class Work (daily grades)
- Work quietly and follow all directions.
- Concentrate on your work.
- Raise your hand for questions.
- Work until your assignment is completed.
- Take unfinished work home for homework.
- When you are finished, sit quietly and stay in your seat.
Heading on Paper and Spiral Work
- Right top corner: Name (First and Last), Date, and Period (-5 points)
- Top line of paper: Title and/or page number from textbook
Tardy To Class
- If tardy to class, enter the classroom quietly and quickly find your seat without disturbing other students.
- Do not discuss the reasons for being tardy until the end of class.
- Begin working on assignment.
Definition of Tardy: being late to class without an excused note or leaving the classroom for any reasons except illness or official office business.
If Teacher Is Out of Classroom
- Work on the bell work or assignment.
- Sit quietly and remain in seat.
Spiral
- Keep all bell work and TAKS notes in spiral.
- Remember-heading, page number, and title.
- Keep handouts, assignments and tests in your binder. (Binder is a test grade at the end of the six weeks)
Absent from Class
Ask for absent work at the end of the class period. Do not ask during bell work or instruction time.
Dismissal from Class
- Pick up trash from floor.
- Wait for the teacher to dismiss class.
