Welcome to Home Economics
Where we have SEW-much FUN!
Leslie Young
My name is Leslie Young. I have a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I have been in the teaching profession for 26 years. Most of those years where spent in high school. I teach both 7th and 8th grade. I really enjoy teaching. I have been married for 23 years to Gregg Young and we have 3 sons. The oldest is in his third year of college at Tarleton State University, the middle one is in the 10th grade at the high school, and our baby is in middle school. We attend church, like to hunt, and our boys play every sport...so we are busy.
7th Grade~Skills For Living
Our basic units for this class are families, clothing, and nutrition. Our big projects are egg babies, autograph pillows, and cooking. There is a $12.00 fee to cover our sewing projects. They will also need a one subject spiral and a pen/pencil.
8th Grade~Career Investigations
What do you want to do for the rest of your life? Students will investigate career choices through the use of newspapers, workbooks, the internet, videos, interviews, etc. I want the students to make their vocation their vacation. They will need a one subject spiral and a pencil/pen.
